Basic Personal Finance For Kids

Description:
This class will cover the basics of personal finance.  Topics covered
include:

  • Importance of Saving Money
  • Understanding Credit
  • Power of Compounding Interest
  • Investing in Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds
  • Diversification

As an exercise in learning about the stock market, each class will
have a stock market competition.  With a virtual portfolio, each student
will compete against the rest of the class, the parents (if they choose
to join the competition) and the teacher.  The stock market
competition will last for 6 months, with the winner receiving a $50 gift
certificate to a local merchant.

Dates and Time:

Dates and time for new classes will be announced soon.  There
should be several Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 classes available.

Location:
The classes will meet at the Jewish Community Center (JCC).  The
JCC is located at 5403 Monument Avenue, one block east of St.
Mary's Hospital.

Cost:
The cost for the Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 classes will be
announced soon.
