About Our Business

The birth of my daughter, Lexi, was the inspiration for this business.
Faced with the daunting task of choosing investments for my
daughter (from 529 accounts to Coverdell), I started thinking about
how many people did not have basic training in personal finance.  I
also thought ahead to how I would teach Lexi about money and
savings.  Instead of waiting until she was the proper age for me to
teach her money skills, I decided that I could help other parents teach
their children how to be "smart" with money.  My wife, Lori, who is a
veterinarian is passionate about this business and its ideals and
helps me with coordinating classes and marketing.

My background includes:
  • Over 13 years teaching experience
  • Received Masters in Economics from NC State University
  • Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at NC State University
  • Taught at NC State from 1992 - 1999
  • Visiting Professor at University of Richmond from 1999 - 2002
  • Senior Economic Consultant at Chmura Economics &
    Analytics from 2002 - 2004
  • Currently Chief Financial Officer of Westwood Pharmacy.

I have consistently received strong teaching evaluations.  Click
